WARNING: Contains spoilers from the new show The Legend of Korra (if you care) and from The Promise: Part 1.

OOO

Okay, so, if you don't already know what I'm talking about, enlighten yourself: [link]

So, Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the biggest obsessions I've ever had. For about three years, it was all I ever did or thought about. I began watching the show the day that it aired, and I followed it clear to the end. I'm pretty sure I've seen every episode at least six times. I've also got around five sketchpads or so that have nothing in them except for fan art for Avatar. In fact, you could probably say that Avatar taught me how to draw in the first place. I was decent for my age at the time that I was super obsessed with the show, but by half way through the series, I'd improved my skills significantly just because of all that fan art.

With the new series coming out, I am very, very excited. I am confident that it will be brilliant, but I'm also a bit sad because I am sure I will never be quite as obsessed with it as I was with the original. The original has nostalgia for me. I mean, it was basically my life style, and there isn't a whole lot of obsessions that can top that. Nevertheless, the suspense is killing me. I want more information about it. Also, an air date so that I can make one of those little chain calendars to count down to it's premiere.

Meh heh. No, not really. Why would I want a chain one when I could have one of those chocolate ones?

Anyways, more info, in case you're interested but not up to date: [link]

Here are my theories/ideas/thoughts:

1. Even though it is gaurenteed to be a Mako/Korra/Bolin love triangle, it will be Mako and Korra who end up together. Why? Because of all of the Zutara fans who never got their way. I mean, really, just look at their character designs! It's like redesigned Zuko and Katara. Also, their names, oddly enough, even if Mako is only named Mako because of Mako, Iroh's voice actor (who was so, sooo brilliant). It's gonna be the two of them, I'm already positive.

(Oh, and just in case you are wondering, I am a hardcore Kataang shipper. Have you read The Promise: Part 1? He, he, he, he, he. I'll talk about that later though.)

2. If we don't find out what happens to Zuko's mother in The Promise Trilogy, then I have my own theory about her. It's pretty out there, but I think she probably moved to the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom (assuming that the colonies weren't included in her banishment from the Fire Nation), remarried to somebody there and had more kids. Then I think that there is going to be some sort of a relation between her posterity and Mako and Bolin, because, seriously, Mako looks so, so much like Zuko. Only (I may just be aggravating tons and tons of fan girls by saying this...) I think Mako is even more attractive. It's really unbelievable how perfect looking he is. He has absolutely everything that makes a guy good looking in my book. A back, a front; some sides. A head.

No, seriously though, just look at his outfit! It's like they got a bunch of girls together in a room and had them list everything that makes a guy look cool and then they made a design out of it. Really, fingerless gloves? Rolled up sleeves? High collar, scarf and coat tail, all in black and gray with red here and there?

He's perfect. You can expect fan art from me.

Also, his voice actor is vair, vair niiice...

3. If you know anything about the history of the show (read Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Art of the Animated Series if you're an Avatar buff and you haven't already because it is AMAZING), then you know about the changes the creators made in between the original series concepts and the current original series. You'd know about Toph being a guy and the polar bear dog (along with weird little robot Momo) and a whole bunch of other stuff that was part of the old plans. This new show is clearly their chance to bring back all of the stuff they had wanted to use, but never got around to or couldn't. Just an observation. I'm wondering what other things they're going to bring back though... Hopefully not any weird little robot Momos. Pabu is much cuter anyways. I want one.

Pabu plushies, NOW.

4. So, Amon looks interesting. I have a theory about him too. Since we haven't gotten anything about Aang and Katara's other two children, I think he is one of them, but he was born without any bending ablilities. He's anti-bending now because of Aang and Katara's fixation on having and Airbender child, so he felt cast out. Again, these are all kind of out there because we haven't gotten a lot of information on the show yet, so I can't help but make up stuff on my own. Well, the whole Mako and Korra thing isn't out there. I can gaurantee that that's true.

5. Toph has a daughter? Then who in the heck is the father?!! I'm hoping that he will be introduced in The Promise Trilogy at some point. (The Dark One, as he has been so dubbed, perhaps? I thought about it, admittedly.) Personally though, I really hope it's Teo. No real basis for that apart from the fact that it would be ironic. Perhaps they would bond over the fact that nobody understands their handy-capable-ness.

6. So, Katara is alive then! Wow, I thought she looked like Gran Gran in the new clips. It's amazing, though, how much she really does look like Katara still. That shot of her hugging Korra totally looked like that shot of her from The Serpent's Pass when she hugged Aang. I wonder if they did that on purpose. I hope they did. Anyways, do you think that they're going to stick to Aunt Wu's prediction? That would be awesome if they did.

7. Technology in the new show has seriously advanced. I mean, heck, they had a car! (I'm really hoping that Sokka invented them because that would be fantastic.) I trust the creators to do well with this new blend of western and eastern cultures in the Avatar world, but, it is definitely going to be different. (Oh, did you see that fedora guy? That was a nice touch I thought.)

Okay, I think that's enough for now. I could go on, but, it would probably just be about a bunch of little, dumb things. (The fedora guy, for example.) Plus I want to talk a little bit about The Promise Part 1. I really liked it. It was defintely the Avatar that I've been missing. All of the characters are still very much themselves. There were even moments when I could hear the voice actors saying their lines. The only big problem I have with The Promise: Part 1 is a major hole in it's plotline, that hole being Iroh. I mean, did he die? Where is he? Why is he suddenly unconcerned about Zuko? You would think he would know what was going on, and, more than anything, you would think that Zuko would have asked Iroh, his father figure, for advice before going to his crap dad Ozai. Seriously, what's up with that???

Herm, this entry has gotten long. I've really been wanting to talk about all this stuff with somebody. I'm not so sure if there is going to be anybody who reads this who is a big enough fan of the show to know about all of this stuff, but, even so, it was nice to vent.

I must go! Expect more art soon,

Your Budotty

P.S. Gurihiru's art is excellent. Everytime I would get to a comic by them in The Lost Adventures I would think, "Oh, good, their art is the best in here." And then low and behold! I was really happy with it.

P.P.S. If you do know about the show, please comment and tell me your theories/ideas/thoughts. I'd like to hear them.
